Guitar Beat (wip) Guitar Beat (wip)

Rated 3.5 / 5 stars

Not bad I like it. Guitar recording needs to be a tad cleaner as it's the base of the whole song. But sounding good, look forward to the finished piece.

Thanks man, I'll work on that then.

Nice, sounding pretty sweet, reminds me of the Bastion soundtrack, very Darren Korb-esque. You keep improving man, I like it :D

Really liked the bassline on this, that's some funky funk. Only suggestion would be tone. The bass tone was very good, I personally fell it would benefit from a bit more low end. The rest of the instrumentation was good. the horn (I think it was a horn) at the start could maybe benefit from a little alteration but overall very nice. The build up was sweet and by the end i was really engrossed in the song as a whole. Nice work :D

Very nice, very atmospheric and musically interesting. I enjoyed this a lot. Reminds me of the big cathedral level on DMC4 and to be honest I could see this fitting in very well with a game similar to that. The Epicness and suspense is awesome. Very nice work.

Thank you very much kind sir c:

Some really good ideas here, I liked the build up and the instrumentation worked very well. I would only say there needs to be a bit more variation. The B section (1:15) didn't really vary that much from the rest of the song I found. The introduction of the second melody line was a nice touch but i felt like it was missing something. maybe a variation in melody or maybe tempo, I'm not entirely sure. Also (and this comes from someone who doesn't know an awful lot about this genre of music) I felt the the mix was very drum and bass heavy, the main melody seemed to be struggling to be heard, but as i said this isn't really my area of expertise but overall very nice. I look forward to your next musical offering :D

Thanks for the input. You're right. I looked over the file again and realized that I forgot to lower the volume for the clap, kick and snare. Also, you're right, a little variety in the temp would have been great (still trying to figure out how to alter tempo mid song in FL studio) As for the second part, it was an attempt to avoid monotony, but listening to it after your comment, you're right. There could have been more I could have added to get some better music. Thank you again for your advice and I'll be sure to try and incorporate it into the next project.

As a prog guitarist myself I tend to be very over-critical, but I have to say this little loop is rather nice, and I hope to see this built upon. Only thing I would say is the tone is very 'trebley' and at first found it quite piercing, but guitar tone is always a matter of preference at the end of the day. Nice work :D

jaysummers759885 responds:

I just posted a better mix, I think the tone of the compression was too "trebley" on the master track. I am hoping it fixed the issues. However, I shall look at my EQ settings to be absolutely sure.

Thanks man!
